restricted code: W/C – limited vocab/context bound. Elaborate code: M/C – wide vocab/context free/complex. SCHOOLS ARE ELABORATE!

teachers attach label to pupil that has little accuracy. Then treated differently, then they end up conforming to the label. E.g. ‘smart/class clown/dumb’.

focus on negative – too much power to teachers, ignores that they have free will to go against label. E.g. Fuller 🡪 Black girls – learning.

Fake IQ tests given. Random 20% identified as bright, year later those kids made more progress than others.
