Role and Functions of Education - MARXISM:

Social institution whose main role is to pass the dominant ideology of R/C.

W/C pupils see through R/C ideology and do anti-school subculture – laddish culture acceptance of boys rather than teachers.

anti-school subculture suggests the hidden curriculum has failed. Fail to acknowledge that gender and ethnicity cause failure as well.

exaggerate effect education has on W/C achievement, government policies improved chances of the W/C.

M/C educational success is due to biological differences.

Fail to see how education has failed all social groups not W/C. Education fails to equip all students with skills.
