Came from the French Chanson Balladee or “Ballade” which originally refers to dancing song. It is a sentimental and popular song that tells story in a short stanza and simple words, with repetition and refrain.

a song that remained popular for several decades and performed by different musicians or bands. It is usually in a slow or moderate tempo and characterized by singable melodies within a range.

Originated from Africa and developed in the United States during the late 1940s to the 1950. It is a mixture of country music, Rhythm and Blues, Jazz and gospel music played with an Electric guitar, bass guitar, a drum set and often with a piano or keyboard.

was considered the “King of Rock and Roll” in 1950 with his famous songs Heartbreak Hotel and Blue Suede shoes.

Disco
Is a style of dance music popular in the 1970s consisting of the elements of funk, soul, pop and salsa. The Disco came form the French word “Discotheque” which means a library of phonograph records. Accompanied by strings, horns, electric guitars, electric piano or sythesizers.
Some known hits and performers in 1970s include: Dancing Queen by ABBA, Stayin’ Alive by Bee Gees, Boogie wonderland by Earth Wind and fire, Hot stuff by Donna Summer and YMCA by the Village People

This genre was regarded as more electrical, original, or challenging than most popular music.

Is a style of music composition wherein a vocalist or instrumentalist sings or plays a phrase and another vocalist or instrumentalist echoes with one phrase. It is a musical style where the leader sings a line and answered by a chorus. The soloist usually improvises while the chorus stays the same.
